As a responsible corporate citizen, Harbinger is committed to CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) practices that are sustainable and benefit the communities at large. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) at Harbinger is beyond products and profits. It is about attempting to make a difference in the society we live in. Donating money for charity and sharing our time for social causes are the most natural ways of contribution. At Harbinger, we go a step forward and plan our projects with the aim to help institutions and individuals become sustainable and self-reliant.
Over the years, Harbinger has supported many community development initiatives which are aimed at "Empowering through education, skill enhancement for the underprivileged section of the society and supporting ecological sustainability”. Some of our initiatives in this direction are:
Recently, Harbinger adopted the Keshav Madhav School in Khed Shivapur village, Pune. It is a primary school run by a group of enthusiastic teachers from Khed Shivapur and the neighboring communities. Harbinger aims to make it a model school by supporting and encouraging the teachers by upskilling them and getting the students to exceed in all fields.
The Jagriti School for blind is engaged in providing education, training and rehabilitation of visually challenged girls from rural Maharashtra, India. We recently printed digests in Braille for all academic subjects for classes 8th 9th and 10th for the girls at the Jagriti School. In addition, we have participated in story-telling activity and provided CDs of stories in English, Marathi and Hindi as a part of the learning initiative. The ‘Voice Overs’ for these stories were recorded at the company premises and presented to the School.
We work with Door Step School on a project called – ‘Grow with Books’ which strives to inculcate the habit of reading and also enhances the reading ability of school going children from standard 1st to 7th. The session comprises of songs, stories and word games for enhancement of language skills.
The idea behind this project is to make a difference in the lives of differently-abled youngsters and to give them a sustainable livelihood. Currently, we are engaged with 11 hearing impaired youths around 22 years of age who are provided with vocational training on making small household display items – like coasters, trays, pen holders, coffee tables, wall hangings, etc. Through this project, they have started earning a livelihood and are becoming self-reliant, which earlier was a distant possibility.
Harbinger also conducts various other CSR activities on a periodic basis such as blood donation drives, short animation films for traffic awareness and much more. Harbinger team held an entertainment program for the benefit of armed forces veterans at a Paraplegic Center as well.
At Harbinger, each activity is more than just an 'initiative'. It is our heart-felt desire to give something back to the society that has done a lot for everyone around us. We are in pursuit of building a community which would bring everyone together for leading a happier and a satisfied life. To know more about our CSR initiatives visit Harbinger Group.
